PRIVATE LESSONS

            DON BANKS MUSIC offers private instruction on most
       instruments. We are fortunate in having acquired the most highly
skilled instructors in the bay area. Our lessons are $80.00 per month.
You may save $10.00 by paying in cash on the first scheduled lesson of
the month. This pays for a 1/2 hour lesson once per week. Very
rarely is more time or greater frequency of lessons of any benefit.

        Aside from the business aspect of our studio, our foremost
              concern is the musical progress of the student. As in every course of
applied instruction, regular attendance is of the utmost importance.

Students who are registered at our studio will be assigned a
trained competent teacher at a specific time and day each week.

Students must provide their own instrument, with exception of
piano or large percussion instruments. If the student doesn't have their
own instrument, a rental instrument may be available. Please inquire
about out rental program.

WHAT INSTRUMENTS

We offer private instruction for:

Fretted instruments
Brass
Woodwind
Stringed instruments
Percussion

THINGS TO DO

Be supportive of efforts made to play a musical
instrument, a negative attitude produces negative
results.
Encouragement should be offered to the student to
play for family and friends.
Students should be exposed to a variety in styles of
music, through both public performance and
recordings.
Encourage the student to play a variety of music;
there are many supplemental songbooks available.
Encourage the student to play his/her instrument.
Remember the word "play" implies that it's fun, where
as the word "practice" implies work.
If the student has a problem with his/her instrument
have the necessary repairs done as soon as possible.
A student can very easily become frustrated, and lose
interest if their instrument is not in proper adjustment.

WHAT NOT TO DO

Don't use practice as punishment.
Don't tease the student when a mistake has been
made.
Don't push progress, for each individual is different
and will excel at their own rate.

Esteem, History, Math, Concentration, Coordination,
Enjoyment, and Pride.
